Cusco is an unforgettable experience, as it allows you to uncover some of the mysteries of the Incas, because Cusco was the center, the “navel” of the Andean world. the legend goes, begins in the 11th or 12th century when the first Inca, Manco Capac, obeying the dictates of the Sun God, founded Cusco,On March 23, 1534, Francisco Pizarro, the Spanish conquistador of Peru, refounded the Inca city as a Spanish colonial settlement.Today, Cusco, the archeological capital of Peru and America, is a city open to the world.
When you arrive to the airport of Cusco City we will transfer to your selected hotel. Remaining morning free to rest in your hotel in order to avoid altitude sickness. In the afternoon, we will visit the City of Cusco on a guided sightseeing tour visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. Then, we drive out of the City to visit the Inca monuments of QenQo, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco.
On this day we will transfer you from your Hotel to Poroy Train Station for a three hour train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as Cusco Tours – Cusco Travel, Peru “The Lost City of the Incas”, one of the most renowned examples of surviving Inca architecture. Arrive in Aguas Calientes train station for a 30-minute bus drive, climbing a winding road, to the Inca Citadel. Upon arrival, then we enjoy a guided tour of the Citadel for about two hours, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you’ll have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at your leisure. Lunch in Aguas Calientes town and return to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco city.
